Great article!

As you mentioned, Axie Infinity has pioneered the P2E gaming space. How do you think about identifying the next Axie Infinity? Also, do you have any recommendations on podcasts or other reading material to keep up with everything that is happening in crypto gaming?

Nicely presented! Currently, most of the play-to-earn games base their economics on crypto assets/NFTs, but other than that, don't really have anything to do with blockchain. Given the latency and costs involved in transactions to be mined on blockchains, do you think "truly" blockchain-based games will be possible in the future?

There are two scenarios:

1. As we transition into blockchain games, to begin with it would be more of a amalgamation of web2 and web3 concepts. Not everything will be on Blockchain, not every transaction needs to be verified by a lot of people. Just the game economics, NFTs, and important data need to be stored on the blockchain which people really want to own or need transparency.

2. Blockchain ecosystem is still evolving and with the combination of sidechains, Layer 2 solutions the latency issue to execute millions of transactions on blockchain itself goes away. Even if we look at some successful games like Axie, they have created their own chain to solve this problem. Even though a separate chain leads to a bit of centralisation but it still provides the transparency to the users. As more chains supporting higher scales come in, we believe the transaction costs would continue going down.

Great article! I also run a newsletter which covers Web3 and a few other topics. Would be great to collaborate on a piece if you're up for it.
